EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Capital Mental Health Association
The Capital Mental Health Association of Greater Victoria (CMHA) is seeking an Executive Director to lead their long-standing, not-for-profit organization focused on providing psychosocial rehabilitation services to an estimated 600 adults in the Capital Regional District who live with mental illness.
Reporting to a Board of Directors, as the Executive Director, you will provide leadership, strategic direction, change management and vision to ensure ongoing development and implementation of a long-term strategy to enable and enhance CMHA’s ability to achieve its Mission. You will ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies and continually monitor the performance of CMHA’s programs and services.
As Executive Director, you are responsible for leading the staff and volunteers of CMHA, and continuing to develop and deliver the programs, services and financial resources required to achieve all objectives to the highest possible standards.

You enjoy working with organizations to continually help nurture and improve the people employed and programs offered, and you are a well-regarded motivator who applies creativity and innovation in your daily work. You are forward thinking and enjoy a healthy relationship with a positive board of directors who together make a difference in our region’s mental health community.
The ideal candidate brings a relevant degree (Masters preferred) in Public or Business Administration, health sciences or a comparable combination of education, training and experience. You have a record of at least five years recent, related senior management experience, ideally in a not-for-profit sector organization. You bring demonstrated effective leadership skills and experience in fiscal management, strategic planning, and program and staff development; experience preparing and meeting an annual operating budget of $4 million or more; and experience managing staff and leading organizational and transformational change. You are also accustomed to reporting directly to a board of directors and you have directly managed staff in a unionized environment. A background in mental health is an asset.

About CMHA
Operating since the 1970’s, the Capital Mental Health Association (CMHA) is a not-for-profit organization offering recovery-based services for adults experiencing mental illness and works to promote their full participation in society. Programs and services, which also include the provision of subsidized housing, are designed to promote hope and recovery and offer people experiencing a mental illness the supports needed to achieve success in their life.
CMHA employs more than 50 full-time and over 60 part-time/casual staff, most of whom are unionized, and has an annual budget of $5.5 million. The current annual budget is primarily funded through Island Health and the BC Housing Corporation.
CMHA offers a variety of programs and opportunities for adults aged 18 and above who are experiencing a mental illness. CMHA has a variety of recreation and wellness programs for different ages, abilities and mental health concerns, a Supported Employment Program and an Education coach. They also offer subsidized housing that includes four apartment buildings and one long-term care facility.
