The Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Bonney as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the association, effective February 25, 2013.
“After a thorough and lengthy search, we are pleased to welcome a new CHBA BC Chief Executive to lead the province’s residential construction community forward,” says CHBA BC President Nathan Stone. “Brian brings more than 30 years of business experience to our association. His expertise in strategic planning, communications and business development will help CHBA BC continue to grow as an industry association.”
Having owned and operated a number of businesses, Bonney’s background positions him well to understand and serve the needs of CHBA BC’s membership. An entrepreneur, business builder, manager, communicator and sales executive, Bonney also has experience with all levels of government and a strong sense for creative problem solving, strong attributes that will serve CHBA BC members well.
Bonney will succeed CEO M.J. Whitemarsh in the position. Whitemarsh has been CHBA BC CEO for more than 13 years and in that time, has helped raise the bar of professionalism in British Columbia’s residential construction industry.
“I am pleased to leave CHBA BC in such capable hands,” Whitemarsh says. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the innovators and leaders of B.C.’s home building and renovation community. It has been an unforgettable experience.”
Prior to joining CHBA BC, Bonney was Director of Provincial Affairs for the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, Vice President for Uniserve Communications and Director of Communications with the Province of British Columbia. He has owned and operated two telecom companies as well.
“CHBA BC is a highly respected organization,” Bonney says. “I’m excited to accept the challenge and be involved in one of B.C.’s most important and most successful industries. I look forward to working closely with CHBA BC stakeholders, all levels of government and of course, our members, to continue to promote excellence in residential construction throughout the province.”
