Compensation: Salary from $50,000 plus benefits package
Rowing BC, the provincial sport organization for the sport of rowing in British Columbia, is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Executive Director.
Rowing BC is the governing body for the sport of rowing in BC, providing a number of programs and services to clubs and individuals throughout the province, working to deliver the vision of BC as the leading rowing community in Canada. Rowing BC is an equal opportunity employer.
ROLE
The Executive Director of Rowing BC is the senior full-time staff member of the organization and is responsible to the Board of Directors for the consistent achievement of the mission and financial objectives of Rowing BC.
Primary Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Executive Director position include:
- Delivering the goals of Rowing BC’s strategic plan
- Managing the finances of Rowing BC, including development and implementation of the annual budget as approved by the Board of Directors.
- Leadership and supervision of staff, including two full-time coaches and one part-time administrative assistant.
- Development, implementation and accomplishment of Rowing BC annual work plan.
- Maintenance of official records and documents, and ensuring compliance with all granting and contractual obligations.
- Keeping the Board informed of the condition of the organization and important factors and trends.
- Supporting member clubs to improve their capacity and enhance sustainability.
- Promoting and managing membership and services.
- Acting as an advocate with senior government officials, other sport organizations, universities, media, and other related institutions.
- Overseeing Rowing BC official communications and the Rowing BC website
Qualifications:
- University degree, degree in Business Administration, Education, Sport Management, or a related field; or the equivalent in experience.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sport sector is an asset.

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals and groups
- Exceptional time management skills to support a dynamic, deadline driven environment.
- Strong organizational, problem solving, customer service, and project management abilities.
- Supervisory and leadership skills
- Ability to network and act as a coalition builder with other agencies, the BC sport community and government.
- Strong writing and computer skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Travel is involved.
