Association Manager
The CVMA-Society of BC Veterinarians Chapter (CVMA-SBCV Chapter) is a not for profit association for veterinarians in British Columbia. The mission of the organization is to create a strong practice community that promotes collegiality among veterinarians, enlightens and directs public opinion and cultivates and advances the art and science of veterinary medicine and surgery. Together with our national partner, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, we provide a wide variety of benefits, services and programs for our 450 members.
We are looking for a seasoned association executive or an association management company to provide management and administrative services for the CVMA-SBCV Chapter on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Board of Directors Support: preparing agendas, attending Directors meetings and teleconferences and preparing minutes. Organize elections and prepare for Annual General Meetings.
- Committee Support: assist the volunteer committees by ensuring they have the information and resources needed to complete their tasks.
- Financial Management: utilize a computerized accounting system to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting.
- Conference & Event Management: manage the annual conference and other events including sponsor solicitation, speaker management, venue negotiations, promotion, registration and on-site event management.
- Relationship Building: Liaise with national and provincial veterinary associations, government and other stakeholders and veterinary industry representatives.
- Public Relations: respond to email, telephone and written enquiries from association members, the media and the public.
- Communications: Prepare regular news updates for the website. Ensure website information is current. Communicate with members by email, and thru the quarterly association magazine.
- General Administration: Maintain files and records. Prepare Society Act filings. Maintain membership lists and stakeholder contact lists.
Qualifications
- Senior level experience in association management – Executive Director preferred.
- A high level of initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Able to use a computerized accounting system.
- Proven track record in conference and event management.
- Previous experience in the veterinary or animal health industry is an asset.
This is a part-time, contract job that will be of interest to an experienced association manager with a fully equipped home based office or an established association management company.
Location preference: Vancouver or Victoria.
